It didn’t take long for the Emery Lady Spartans to prove that they are the cream of the 3A crop Friday night in the first round of the 3A Playoffs, beating Providence Hall 84-24.
Leading 23-2 after the first quarter, Emery led 45-12 at the half. Megan Jensen scored 16 of her game high 24 points in the first half. Jensen ended the game 11-14 from the floor. She also pulled down 11 rebounds, five of which were offensive.
Three other players scored in double figures, with Kacelyn and Kinlee Tommer combining for 27 points on 10-19. Laniee Jensen was next with 16 points.
By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Spartans held a 70-22 lead. Emery then outscored Providence Hall 16-2 in the fourth to run away with the lopsided win.
Emery will now take on the Carbon Lady Dinos a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday at 4:10 p.m. at Dixie State University. Carbon beat Summit Academy 52-36 in a late game on Friday.
