Leading 63-26 after three quarters of play, the Emery Lady Spartans coasted to the 70-42 win over the San Juan Broncos Tuesday night in Blanding.
The win marked the 16th win in a row for 2A’s #2 team. Emery has outscored its opponents by an average score of 30.8 points per game (63.2 ppg by Emery, 32.4 ppg by opponents) during its win streak. In Region 15 play, the Lady Spartans are even better, averaging 68.3 ppg while giving up a measly 32.8 ppg. Emery’s overall point differential is tops in 2A (2nd in all classifications behind 1A Wayne’s +616) at +545. The next closest is North Summit, 2A’s #1 team, with +433.
Lainee Jensen nailed four 3-pointers against San Juan, ending with a game high 20 points. Jensen has hit at least four threes in five games this season. The junior did it three times a season ago. Megan Jensen chipped in 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Kacelyn Toomer finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sister Kinlee dished out nine assists while adding eight points and five steals.
Emery (18-1, 9-0 Region 15, #2 in 2A) will finish the regular season Thursday at home against Grand (6-11, 0-8 Region 15). The Spartans beat the Red Devils 70-21 back on Jan. 19. Thursday’s game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
