The Emery High School Softball team won its Region 12 debut by defeating Richfield 5-2 on Friday, April 1.
Whitney Roper got the win from the pitcher’s circle. She also sparked a late rally with a triple to right-center field that jumped started the Emery offense.
The win was Emery’s first in a Region Opener dating back to 2005. The Lady Spartan’s are currently tied with Juab atop the Region 12 standings.
The win also bumped Emery’s overall record to 4-4 on the season.
Emery’s next outing will be a Region 12 clash at Manti on Tuesday, weather permitting.
