The Spartan Center was open on Thursday night when San Juan came to town. The Lady Broncos landed the first punch with a 25-21 set win. Emery was unfazed and came back to win the second set 25-22. San Juan answered back with a few more body blows and took the third set 25-22 to go up 2-1.
Needing a win, the Lady Spartans put together their best set, 25-17, to tie the game at two sets apiece. Both teams traded blows down the stretch but Emery delivered the knock out punch 15-13 for the 3-2 victory over San Juan.
Emery (6-6, 2-3) will be on the road next week. It will face Grand (10-3, 3-1) on Tuesday and South Sevier (3-12, 1-3) on Thursday.
