Trailing 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Emery was robbed of a home run and was doubled off on a line drive to end the game on Friday at North Sanpete.
MarKette Tanner led off the frame with a shot to dead-center field only to have the wind hold the ball just enough for North Sanpete’s Anna Ledingham to stab the ball as she fell over the top of the fence.
After consecutive singles by Bryton Hess and Whitney Roper, Jaiden Huntington roped a line drive to third base. Confusion over whether the low liner had bounced led to Roper getting doubled off first to end the game.
Tanner and Roper both hit doubles for the Lady Spartans.
Roper finished the day with three hits. She also held the Hawks’ offense to four hits.
Three Emery errors led to four un-earned runs.
The Spartans host Delta on Tuesday in their final Region 12 contest.
