Lady Spartans Drop High-Scoring Battle to South Sevier, 10-9

The Emery Spartans lost a battle of the bats on Friday, falling short in a 10-9 ballgame against South Sevier.

Ashton Bell had two extra-base hits for Emery. She doubled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and homered in the seventh inning.

In the top of the first, South Sevier grabbed the early lead, 2-0. South Sevier pushed more runs across when they scored on a passed ball.

The Spartans got two-run rallies in the fourth inning and the seventh. In the fourth, they scored on a two-run home run by Kamrie Hinkins, plating Kelsey Reeve.

South Sevier matched its one-run fifth inning with one more in the seventh. In the fifth, South Sevier scored on a sacrifice fly.

Two Emery Spartans runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the seventh, making the score 10-9. A two-run home run by Bell gave the Lady Spartans life. South Sevier’s Lindgren induced a Jarica Huntington ground out to close things out.

Emery will travel to Monroe to Take on South Sevier for a rematch game Tuesday.
