The Lady Spartans hosted a tough Manti team on Tuesday and quickly fell in a 7-0 hole after one inning. Emery was able to get a couple runs back but never was able to get close. Manti took the contest, 17-7.
The Lady Templars leaned on their outstanding pitcher, Kiana Pogroszewski. She has pitched in 10 region games, compiling 79 strikeouts over 58 innings while only giving up 13 earned runs. Four of those were on Tuesday against Emery. Ambree Bennett went 2-2 with three runs scored and a double to lead the Lady Spartans.
Then, on Wednesday, Emery was able to strike first against North Sanpete. The Lady Spartans took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first off Reagan Rasmussen’s grand slam. Unfortunately for Emery, it would not score again. North Sanpete, on the other hand, scored in every inning to win 14-4. Rasmussen went 2-2 in the contest with her grand slam and four RBIs.
Up next, Emery (10-9, 4-6 Region 15) will face Manti (18-5, 9-1 Region 15) on Friday on the road.
