The Emery Lady Spartans ran their perfect Region 15 record to 3-0 Thursday night against South Sevier in a battle between the fourth and fifth ranked teams in 2A. Emery did just enough to escape with the 44-41 win.
After a pretty even first quarter, Emery was able to clamp down defensively on the Rams in the second by allowing just two points. The Lady Spartans took a 24-15 lead into the break. Emery was able to withstand a late charge by South Sevier to pick up the big win on the road.
Bailey Rasmussen led the Spartans with 14 points. Rasmussen has averaged 12.2 points per game over her last nine games. Baylor Griffin chipped in eight points.
Emery (7-4, 3-0 Region 15) has won its last three games and four its last five. Next up is Grand (4-5, 1-0 Region 15) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Castle Dale. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10.
