Lady Spartans’ Golf Team Play Through Spring Break

While most of Region 15 enjoyed their spring break recently with no matches played, the Emery Lady Spartans were the exception. According to coach Tom Hansen, the team played through spring break and did so in fine fashion. On Tuesday, the team traveled to Cove View in Richfield to compete in an 18-hole match.

The team was only three strokes ahead of Grand for second place out of seven teams in Region 15. After the 18-hole match, the Lady Spartans had increased their lead to a total of 59 strokes over Grand, who is currently in third place.

Led again by Lainee Jensen, who shot a solid bogey golf 91 on 18 holes, the team as a whole played to their strengths. Freshman Sydney Alton had her best tournament of the season, ending the game with a score of 106.

The team will look forward to a match on their home turf on April 12. This is the first home match of the season and tee off is slated for 11 a.m. at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron. The back nine only will be played due to construction on the dam.
