The night after Emery put on a shooting clinic with a big win over Salem Hills, problems arose against North Summit. The Lady Spartans shot only 29% from the field and 22% from three in one of their worst offensive performances on the year. They were trailing by five in the second quarter when things got ugly. The Lady Braves built a huge lead with a 23-11 second quarter, bringing it to 40-23 at halftime.

Emery kept pace with North Summit in the second half but the damage was done. North Summit pasted Emery 65-46. The Lady Braves demonstrated why they are ranked #3 in the state by shooting 51% from the field while holding Emery to a season-low field goal percentage.

The Spartan leaders were Baylee Jacobson with a team-high 13 points and five rebounds. Kiri Cook put up 11 points while Hailey Allred recorded three steals.

Emery (4-3) needs to find a way to execute night in and night out. Another tough test lies ahead for the Lady Spartans as #12 (in the state) Judge Memorial will visit the Spartan Center on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs (5-1) boast the state’s leading scorer in Teya Sidberry, who averages 27 points per game. That is over six points more on average than any other girl player in the state. Emery will have to find a way to slow her down in order to be successful.
