Following a dominating season opener against Gunnison, the Lady Spartans fell short on their home field as Ben Lomond came out with the win.

The 2017 season for Emery kicked off on Thursday as the Spartans traveled to Gunnison. A commanding five goals in the first half gave Emery the lead at the break, which they didn’t let go of as they scored two more in the second to take the win, 7-1.

Jocee Funk and Morgan Hurdsman both found the net twice during the game while Alexis Winter, Chloe Sermon and Teah Lowrey all notched one apiece. Gunnison’s lone goal came in the second.

The Lady Spartans will once again be on their home turf on Monday as the team hosts Provo in a preseason matchup. The team will then take a break for a week before hosting Beaver on August 22.
