The Lady Spartans opened their season on Wednesday at the Spartan Center against Millard. Emery came out firing and put up 17 points to Millard’s six in the first quarter. The Spartans did not allow the Eagles to score double digits in each of the first two quarters and entered halftime with a controlling lead, 30-13.
The Eagles competed better in the second half but could not overcome their large first half deficit. Emery dominated their first game of the year 59-37.
Senior Kinlee Toomer was awarded player of the game and led the team with 18 points, six assists and six steals. Fellow senior Megan Jensen also recorded 18 points to go along with eight rebounds and Katelyn Toomer had five blocks and six rebounds.
The Lady Spartans will travel to Spanish Fork to take on the (1-0) Dons on Friday.
