The Emery Lady Spartans picked up their first win of the season Friday in Bluffdale, beating the Summit Academy Bears 15-7.
Emery pounded out 16 hits in the game, four each by Shaylee Jewkes and Kelsey Reeve. Reeve had two singles, a double and a triple in the game while adding four RBIs. Freshman Bailey Huggard had a team-high five RBIs in the game. Addy Healy hit the team’s first home run of the season and also added a single.
Huggard also went the distance in the circle, striking out seven batters while giving up seven earned runs on 102 pitches.
Emery (1-1, 0-0 Region 15) will travel to Moab on Tuesday to take on the Red Devils to open up Region 15 action.
