The Emery Lady Spartans hit the road for a pair of games on Thursday and Friday and came home with a 2-0 record. Not only were the wins impressive, the Lady Spartans scored a combined 142 points in the two games and held their opponents to just 31.5 points per game.
Emery kicked of its Region 15 schedule Thursday at Manti. Sixteen points is all the Spartan defense gave up while scoring 62 of their own. After a huge third quarter Emery led by an astounding 51-8 margin.
Eleven total players scored in the game, led by Megan Jensen with 14 points. Kacelyn Toomer had 13 and Morgan Hurdsman nailed two threes en route to 10 points.
Just 24 hours later the Lady Spartans found themselves in Roosevelt to take on the Union Cougars. Fatigue was nowhere in sight as Emery ran away with the 80-47 win.
Lainee Jensen hit four threes in the game and ended with 18 points. She also pulled down 11 boards. Kinlee Toomer poured in 15 and twin sister Kacelyn added 13. Hurdsman was the other Lady Spartan in double figures with 11. Again, 11 players notched points in the game.
Before a big quarter by the Cougars in the fourth, Emery led 71-30 heading into the final period of play.
Emery (10-1, 1-0 Region 15) will host Gunnison (3-9, 0-1 Region 15) on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
