The Emery Lady Spartans’ 2018 season came to a conclusion Saturday at they fell to Union and San Juan in the 3A Playoffs at South Summit High School.
Union was first up for Emery. Emery scored the game’s opening run in the first inning on a single by Carlie Robinson that scored Raegan Rasmussen.
Union responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and six more in the third to break the game wide open. The Lady Spartans scored their final run in the second inning as Megan Dawes scored on a wild pitch. Emery had just three hits in the game.
Robinson had two of Emery’s three hits with a double and a single. Dawes had the other hit in the game, a single.
Kaejha Johnson took the loss in the circle, going all six innings while allowing three earned runs, 11 total, on eight hits with seven strikeouts.
Emery then faced off against Region 15 foe San Juan in the on-loss bracket. The Lady Spartans were looking for their first win against the Broncos, having lost two regular season meetings during Region 15 play.
Emery lost the game 15-8.
The Lady Spartans finish the season winners of nine games with 14 losses, including a 4-8 mark in Region 15 action.
