Despite a very slow start, the second-ranked Emery Lady Spartans earned a hard-fought back-and-forth overtime victory over the North Sevier Wolves Tuesday night, 56-49.
A hot start by North Sevier buried Emery in an 11-point hole multiple times in the first quarter and led 16-7 when the horn sounded. Early in the second, the Wolves increased their lead to 22-10, but a 10-foot jumper by Ashlynn Allred at the halftime buzzer capped a 20-4 Emery run to earn a 30-26 lead going into the break.
Allred and Hannah Dyer led Emery with 14 points apiece. Bailey Rasmussen and Peyton Jeffs each scored eight, respectively.
The Lady Spartans outscored the Wolves 10-3 in the overtime period to secure the win.
Emery (14-3, 6-0 Region 15) will play at South Sevier (12-6, 6-1 Region 15) Thursday in a battle of the top two teams from Region 15.
