It took all 32 minutes to decide the winner of the Emery/Beaver game Thursday night. Tied at 48 with 43 seconds left, Megan Jensen scored a bucket under the basket to give the Lady Spartans the lead. They went on to win the hotly contested game 52-49.
The Lady Spartans began the game quickly, leading 21-12 after one quarter of play. Emery then held Beaver to just seven points in the second to take the 34-19 lead into halftime.
The Beavers responded, though, outscoring the Spartans 21-6 in the third to tie the score at 40 going into the final period.
Jensen went 8-14 from the floor, leading the Lady Spartans with 18 points. Lainee Jensen connected on 14 points. Kacelyn Toomer was the other Lady Spartan in double figures with 11 points. Despite scoring just one point, Bailey Huggard snagged 10 boards and co-led the team with four assists.
Emery (5-0, 0-0 Region 15) will host South Summit on Thursday. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
