After defeating Union on Tuesday, the Lady Spartans were looking to grab their second win in as many days when they faced Beaver on Wednesday.

Emery started on the right foot and grabbed a 14-8 lead after one quarter of play. The Lady Beavers closed the gap in the second to trail at halftime, 26-22. The Lady Spartans dominated the third quarter 14-7 to take an 11-point lead into the final period. Emery cruised onto a 50-40 win over Beaver.

Kiri Cook led the Spartans with 18 points and seven rebounds. Tambrie Tuttle and 5’2″ Makieya Bertuzzi also had seven rebounds as the latter grabbed five on the offensive end of the court. Emery was able to emerge victorious although the squad again struggled at the foul line (47 percent) and turned the ball over 18 times.

The Lady Spartans (2-1) will need to clean up a few things if they want to extend their streak to three. They will host a tough Morgan (1-0) team later on Thursday in the Spartan Center. That game can be viewed online at ETVNews.com.
