On the heels of their win over South Sevier, the Lady Spartans headed to Richfield to take on the Wildcats. Emery and Richfield met in the 3A State Championship game last year when Emery came from behind to take the state title. The Wildcats were looking for payback on Jan. 3 against the Spartans, but Emery would have nothing of it.

The Lady Spartans jumped out to a 19-12 lead after one quarter of play. The 12 points would end up being the highest point total Emery’s stout defense would give up in a single quarter in the game. Emery was up 35-17 at halftime and cruised to a 30-point win over Richfield, 64-34.

Megan Jensen led the Spartans with 19 points followed by Kacelyn and Kinlee Toomer, who scored 17 and 16 points, respectively. Jensen recored another double-double, pulling down 11 rebounds, as Kinlee was close to a double-double with nine rebounds of her own. The Lady Spartans had eight blocks in the game, five of which came from Jensen. They shot an unfathomable 72% on two-pointers to remain undefeated on the season.

Emery (11-0, 2-0 Region 15) has two games this week. The Lady Spartans will play Manti (5-9, 1-3 Region 15) on the road on Tuesday before they host North Sanpete (2-8, 1-1 Region 15) in the Spartan Center on Thursday.
