The Emery Lady Spartans scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning and held on for the win Tuesday in Richfield, winning the game 13-12 to wrap up the Region 15 season. It was the second time within a week Emery beat Richfield.

Emery outhit Richfield 16-7, led by Morgann Donaldson and AdriAnne Childs, both of whom bashed three hits apiece. Raegan Rasmussen also nailed a fifth inning home run to extend the Emery lead to 10-6. Thompson also had a game-high three RBIs on 2-4 from the plate.

Emery used three pitchers in the game, led by Kaylee Price who went four innings, allowing just one earned run. Bailey Huggard tossed three more and Kaejha Johnson went the other inning in the game.

Emery (9-12, 4-8 Region 15) took the fifth seed out of Region 15 and will play in the first round of the 3A Playoffs, which begin Saturday, at South Summit High School against either Juab, Carbon or Union. The three teams are still battling it out for final playoff seeding.
