Letter to the Editor: Thank You to Emery County

Editor,

On November 24, 2019 my dad passed away at his home in Emery. During the last years of his life, he suffered from steadily worsening dementia. For the last five years or so, he was not the man who raised me. During this time, he had some rather unpleasant interactions with the Emery County Sheriff’s Department. I am writing this letter so you and your readers will know how much I appreciate Sheriff Funk and ALL his people who dealt with my father. They treated him with dignity, utmost respect and showed restrain that they did not have to. I will never be able to thank them enough for this. Having spent some time on that side of the badge, I understand the horrific, sad and dangerous situations that these men and women have sworn to deal with on a daily basis so that ordinary people like us do not have to. it take a special kind of person not to become jaded, crass and indifferent when doing the job every day. Sheriff Funk and his people are those kind of people. Thank you again, Sheriff. I am forever grateful.
