The 2016 graduates of Lighthouse High School celebrated their hard work paid off by walking with their fellow classmates at the graduation ceremony on Friday.
The graduation took place at the Carbon School District offices. The VFW Post 2379 presented the colors in a flag ceremony before salutatorian McCoy Brinkerhoff spoke to a full crowd and the other graduates.
Once Brinkherhoff completed his speech, Elijah Larson, valedictorian, said a few words. The keynote speaker for Lighthouse’s graduation was Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood. Wood said many encouraging things to the graduates and families in attendance.
“Things that don’t always work out as planned can still work out,” he encouraged graduates. He also said a few brief words on the safety of graduation night and cautioned the graduates to stay safe while celebrating.
The students were then awarded their diplomas.
