The first Friday of December was a day marked on the calendar of fifteen young adult members of the Price Utah LDS Institute Choir. Armed with a white binder full of sheet music and a head full of notes and rhythms, the fifteen choir members boarded a bus and traveled to Salt Lake City to sing popular Christmas carols at locations around Temple Square.

The repertoire, selected by Natalie Mantz who serves as the choir’s conductor, covered a range of topics and time periods from religious anthems to holiday favorites such as “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and even “Believe” from the film “The Polar Express.”

“Even though there’s a broad range of background and music ability, it always amazes me,” Mantz explained. The choir, made up of volunteers, was able to perform in the newly renovated LDS Church History Museum and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

“The music was really inspirational,” choir member Stacy Graven expressed, smiling. “There’s nothing like being a group and singing together. It’s kind of indescribable.”
