Local Health Department Addresses Hepatitis A Scare

People who ate at the Olive Garden in Spanish Fork between the dates of Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 on Canyon Creek Parkway may be at risk of exposure to Hepatitis A. Anyone who ate at Sonic Drive-In in Spanish Fork between Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 are also at risk for Hepatitis A.

Anyone who ate or used the restroom is said to be at risk. It is recommended that you receive the Hepatitis A vaccination.

The Hepatitis A vaccine has been required for school children from 2002/2003 to date. Missionaries, foreign travelers and health care providers may have already received Hep A vaccine.

You may be immune if you have a history of having Hepatitis A. You may have received gamma if you were exposed to Hepatitis A prior to 1996, but not the Hep A vaccine.

Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, jaundice, low-grade fever, fatigue, pain in your abdomen, dark-colored urine, loss of appetite, muscle pain and itching.
