Castle Dale resident Alan White recently received a Distinguished Service Award from the Utah High School Activities Association as the Utah High School Male Sports Official of the Year. This award was presented by Bruce Bean, Carbon High School principal.
“When I was coaching basketball and saw Al White on the floor, I knew the game would be officiated fairly,” Bean said.
Al has been officiating for more than 30 years. His officiating began with a church assignment when he lived in Ogden. He has officiated high school basketball and football as well as college and high school baseball. His college baseball umpiring has been in and out of Utah at several college tournaments. White also played football in his high school years.
In addition to officiating, White is also employed by PacifiCorp at the Hunter Plant in Castle Dale.
