Riker O’hearon is making a name for himself in the wrestling community at a young age. He was recently honored at Utah Valley University on Oct. 7 as the Utah Greco Roman and Freestyle Wrestler of the Year and Utah Elementary Wrestler of the Year. He has also won multiple state championships and a Youth Super State.

O’hearon is the only Utah elementary wrestler to place at the USA Folkstyle Nations, where he was just one point away from taking first place. He came home as the runner-up. His list of accomplishments do not stop there, however. O’hearon is one of four kids in Utah to ever win the Ring of Fame, Golden Gear, Triple Crown and World Belt. He placed first at the Salt Lake Slam and RMN Nations tournaments. He was the recipient of the Outstanding Wrestler Award last summer on the Midway in San Diego, Calif. and again last month at the Cosmic Clash in Denver, Colo. He has also been featured twice in Win Magazine.

The local star is currently ranked second in the nation in the 10U, 77lbs weight class. He is gearing up for an upcoming match against a highly-ranked wrestler from Pennsylvania in the Allstar Match. This competition will take place in Denver on Nov. 2 and is put on by RMN Nationals (Rocky Mountain National). The organization will bring in the top-ranked wrestlers from throughout the nation for the special Allstar Wrestling Match.

O’hearon comes from a big wrestling family with two older brothers that are multiple high school state champions and have worked with coach Riker. O’hearon is currently a student at Sally Mario Elementary.
