Local wrestlers found success on the Utah Youth Super State mat over the weekend in Farmington. The Legacy Events Center was packed as 1,170 wrestlers from throughout the state competed for a chance to top the podium.
Riker Ohearon led local wrestlers with a first place finish followed by Kruz Arroyo and Jantz Greenhalgh, who both took second. Skyler Oveson and Brax Tapia finished in fourth at the event followed by Kayden Smith and J.J. Ruden, who finished in fifth. Jack Burdick rounded out the podium finishes in sixth place.
Also competing at Super State were Axel Kranendonk, Payce Herrera, Adrian Vasquez, Nathan Tatton, Jason Tatton, Landyn Campbell, Colton Bridge, Aedan Bridge and Johnnie Huff. Kezlee Greenhalgh was ahead in her match, 7-2, before she broke her arm and had to be transported to the hospital.
“We have never had this many of our kids place,” said Brittnie Arroyo, wrestling mom of Kruz Arroyo. “So, this was a very successful year for us.”
