Scott Merrell, creator of the popular Lunatic Triathlon that has been hosted in Price for the past eight years, was happy to finally extend the triathlon to Helper City on Aug. 24. The Lunatic Triathlon is widely regarded as a great event to promote activeness as well as provide a safe and fun environment for attendees and crowds on a summer evening.

However, there’s more to the triathlon than just fun, competitive physical activity. Merrell felt the need to continue to roll the ball that Helper has been growing recently regarding tourism, town events and the like. It was to Merrell’s surprise and appreciation when he discovered that extending the triathlon to Helper was garnering attention far and wide.

While a sizable number of local citizens signed up for the triathlon, attention was also received by many from out of the area. A large group of troubled youth in an organization joined in on the night, a father and daughter duo that had been trekking across the states signed up and many students from various schools took part.

Merrell also expressed that Helper’s businesses were very excited for the event and assisted by keeping Main Street well-lit for participants. A full list of results from the evening can be found below.
