Friday night drew out crowds for the annual Lunatic Triathlon at Washington Park.

The night began with a kid’s triathlon at 8 p.m. for girls and boys between the ages 6-11. Following the kids at 9:15 p.m. was the Lunaticus Maximus, a tougher triathlon for those who wanted more of a challenge.

The regularly scheduled Lunatic Triathlon began at 10 p.m. Because the triathlons were at night, participants were required to wear headlamps to keep them safe on the roads.

Participants could race on their own or in relay teams. Businesses and local schools also created relay teams to participate in the triathlon.
