The Green River Medical Center will welcome the Mammobile on Nov. 21-22. The fully equipped van provides digital mammograms and will bring much needed early cancer detection services to Green River. Most health insurances are accepted and out-of-pocket expenses are cheaper than those incurred at a hospital or medical facility.
The van was designed to bring cancer screenings to rural areas. Survival rates of breast cancer increase with early intervention. Every woman is at risk for breast cancer and should have regular exams.
According to the American Cancer Society, yearly mammograms are recommended for women beginning at age 40 and should continue thereafter.
