Monday afternoon at approximately 1:45 p.m., Christopher Birk, a defendant being sentenced to prison in the 7th District Court, attempted to flee the Carbon County Court Complex as the presiding judge was passing Birk’s sentence, according to information provided by the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office.
Carbon County bailiffs as well as Adult Probation and Parole officers pursued Birk, who was caught in the complex’s parking lot. Both he and one of the bailiffs sustained minor injuries from the incident.
Birk will be charged with escape in addition to his former charges.
