Heaven gained another angel on 04/27/2019.
Mary was born in Lumberton, NM on 07/30/1929 to Adelina Mercure Martinez and Tomas Martinez. The family moved to La Salle, Utah and then to Sunnyside, Utah where she married Melicendro (Mike) Madrid 06/30/1947. Mike worked in the coal mines and she raised their 8 children. He proceeded her in death June 2, 1991.
She was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish in Grand Junction, CO. Her great love in life was spending time with her family and friends. Hosting an annual MADRID FAMILY RIDE that drew upward of 40 riders which included many of her children and grandchildren, along with many who referred to and revered her as Mom. Mom’s door was never locked and there was always something to eat.
Mary is survived by her sister, Connie Roybal. Her grandson Aaron. Sons, Gilberto, Price, UT Gene (Shari) Sunnyside, UT, Cory (Molissa) Spring Creek, NV. Daughters Rita Martinez, Pineville, MO, Stella (Kenny) Kinsey Magna, UT, Marcy (Bill) Haynie Clifton, CO, 23 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
Proceeded in death by her parents Adelina and Tomas Martinez, brothers Tomas and Henry Martinez, sisters Adaline Madrid, Inez Torres, Bennie Llama, Lillie Bartell. Husband Mike Madrid. Sons, Little Abel, Louie, Abel and Tommy. Grandsons, Jerry Green, and Jesse Madrid, Great Grandson Brandon Green.
The family would like to thank Theresa Bianchi for her love and spiritual partnership she provided to our mother as well as Bernie Montoya for her love and care. And to Hope West of Colorado Hospice nurses and CNA’s.
