In response to a recent Presidential Executive Order granting a pay increase to Members of Congress, Congressman Jim Matheson joined with Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick today to introduce bipartisan legislation to block any Congressional pay raise.

“It would be dead wrong to reward Members of Congress with a pay increase at a time when Congress is struggling to conduct the business of the American people,” said Matheson.

The Fitzpatrick – Matheson bill would bar Members of Congress from receiving any pay increase over the course of the 113th Congress. Matheson has already voted this week to freeze the Congressional pay raise effective March 27, 2013, which was authorized by executive order.
