Press Release

Members of the MECCA Mountain Biking Club celebrated the first day of 2019 with a brisk ride on the Good Water Rim Trail as well as a campfire, weenie roast and memorial balloon release. MECCA’s New Year’s Day ride is an annual event, held in rain, snow, wind or sunshine.

The Good Water Rim Trail in the San Rafael Swell is listed in Biking Magazine as one of the “must ride” trails in the Western United States. The ride starts at the Little Grand Canyon Overlook just east of The Wedge Overlook. It is a single track that zig-zags along the edge of Good Water Canyon with stunning vistas and views.

To honor much loved Lamar Guymon, founder of the MECCA club, who recently passed away, the day was celebrated with a memorial balloon release at the top of the Wedge Overlook.

MECCA is a fun-loving group of mountain bike enthusiasts of all ages, sizes and skill levels. They host a local fall and spring mountain bike festival with spectacular rides for all. Many organized rides are hosted throughout the year and all are welcome.
