They didn’t hit 17 three pointers, but the result was the same Tuesday night for the Emery Lady Spartans against Manti. Freshman Megan Jensen led Emery in the 72-58 win over the Lady Templars with a career-high 16 points.
The Lady Spartans broke the Utah state record for most threes in a game (17) the last time the two teams met. Lainee Jensen hits seven of them in Emery’s 85-46 win over Manti on Jan. 26.
Another balanced scoring effort by the Lady Spartans gave them their eighth win in nine tries in Region 15 action. Nine players scored at least four points in the game. CJ Johnson scored 14 points and fellow senior Baylor Griffin added 11. Freshman Kinlee Toomer was next with nine points. As a team, Emery connected just twice from beyond the arc.
The Lady Spartans’ best quarter came in the second when they outscored the Templars 21-13 for a 31-21 halftime lead.
Emery (13-6, 8-1 Region 15) has just one game remaining on its regular season schedule, a Thursday road matchup with San Juan (9-9, 4-4 Region 15). The Lady Spartans took the first matchup back on Jan. 21, 60-22.
