Megan Jensen scored 20 points on a perfect 10-10 from the floor to help the Emery Lady Spartans to the 71-20 win over the Waterford Ravens Friday night in the first round of the 2A Playoffs from Orem High School.
Next up for Emery will be a quarterfinal matchup against Enterprise, who upended the second-seeded South Summit Wildcats 35-28 in the late game on Friday night.
After a slow start to begin the game, the Lady Spartans exploded in the second and third quarters, scoring 22 and 21 points, respectively. Emery held Waterford to single digits in each of the four quarters.
Besides Jensen, Morgan Hurdsman came off the bench to net 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Lainee Jensen was next with nine, including two threes. The Lady Spartans connected on 10 threes in the game, going 10-25.
Emery shot a combined 30-55 for a 54.5% clip, going 15-23 (65.2%) in the first half alone. Emery’s defense held Waterford to just 23.5% from the floor in the game.
Emery will take on Enterprise Thursday at 9:10 p.m. at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.
