In a payback of sorts, the Emery Spartans updended the North Summit Braves on Tuesday night, 79-54, running their record to 2-0.
It was North Summit a year ago that handed Emery its lone regular season loss, 53-47, before the Lady Spartans ripped off 20 wins in a row to reach the 2A Championship game against North Sevier.
Junior Megan Jensen had a monster double double, posting 34 points and 15 rebounds. She also added four blocks and three steals. Jensen finished 16-27 from the field. Kinlee Toomer poured in 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists and snagged three steals. Lainee Jensen chipped in 13 points, Bailey Huggard seven points and six boards and Morgan Hurdsman had a team high six assists to go along with five rebounds.
Besides a 12-point third quarter, the Lady Spartans outscored the Braves 67-45 the rest of the way for the lopsided win.
Emery (2-0, 0-0 Region 15) will finish up its road trip on Thursday with a road tilt at Millard. The Lady Spartans will then host Union on Tuesday.
