The small town of Green River was overcome with crowds to celebrate the annual Melon Days celebration. People gathered in the small town to partake in the many games, vendor booths and of course, plenty of watermelon.
Festivities kicked off last weekend, Friday, Sept. 8, with the Melon Days Queen and Princess Pageant and continued until the main event on Saturday, Sept. 16.
The parade on Saturday morning brought many of the crowds for the events that followed that day. Marching bands from Emery High School, Carbon High School and Grand High School all came together to march in the parade as one and were a big hit. Also featured in the parade was the first Melon Days Queen, Ina Spadafora, who was crowned 70 years ago in 1947.
Events that followed included the Melon Day Fun Shoot, a concert in the park and square dancing to finish off the festivities.
