Merchants Get Walk-Off Win Over Salem Hills, Drop Two Straight on Road *Photo Gallery*

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh with the game tied at eight, Anthony Jones singled home Chandler Kinsinger to give the Helper Merchants a 9-8, walk-off win against Salem Hills Friday night.

Jones went 3-3 in the game with three singles and two RBIs with three runs scored. Zac Bradley had two hits in the game in five at-bats. JP Powell went 3-4 with two singles and a double en route to two RBIs. Triton Abeyta and Ty Anderson each added two RBIs apiece as well.

Helper took a 7-2 lead after scoring four runs in the third. Salem Hills roared back with six runs in the next two innings to reclaim the lead. The Merchants added a run in the sixth after Powell led off the inning with a single and scored on a Jayden Flemett sacrifice fly to deep left center.

Helper would then walk off an inning later after a two-out rally.

Jadon Robertson got the win on the mound, tossing 2 2/3 innings of relief. He allowed just one run on two hits while striking out three batters. Bradley started on the mound, earning the no decision.

The team then traveled north on Saturday to face off against Taylorsville and Pleasant Grove, returning home with two losses.

In the 14-1 defeat to Taylorsville, Robertson scored the only run of the game in the second after he led off the inning with a triple. Despite the lopsided win, Taylorsville only outhit Helper 9-7.

Flemett went 2-3 in the game. Robertson was perfect at the plate, going 2-2. Cody Lowe had a double in the game as well.

Taylorsville scored in every inning, including an eight-run outburst in the second to take a commanding lead.

The Merchants then made the journey south to Pleasant Grove for the 4 p.m. game.

Helper shot out to the early 4-0 lead in the top of the first after back-to-back hits by Anderson and Flemett. Both would score later on a double by JP Powell. Nate Olson had a single in the inning as well, scoring another run.

The Merchants added another run in the second on a sacrifice fly by Lowe that scored Triton Abeyta who led off the inning with a single. Pleasant Grove scored a run in the third, four in the fourth and another in the sixth to round out the scoring.

Lowe took the loss on the mound, allowing seven runs on six hits, including a home run.

Helper will travel to play at Springville on Wednesday.
