The Miners Memorial Committee has been working fervently for months to raise funds for the tribute that will grace the Price City Peace Gardens on Labor Day 2015. On Wednesday, the committee honored a donator that puts the memorial fund a huge step forward.

Ellis Pierce, owner of Pierce Oil and Golden West, recently gave a generous donation to the Miners Memorial fund. Of the $300,000 needed to make the project a reality, the donation was greatly appreciated by committee members.

During a Price City Council meeting, the Miners Memorial Committee presented Pierce with a safety lamp to show their appreciation as a platinum sponsor of the memorial. Pierce expressed his pleasure of giving back to the community and a chance to assist with the project.

The Miners Memorial Committee will continue its fundraising efforts on Saturday with a car cruise. The Helper Arts Festival Car Show Committee cruise will be a poker run and each hand will cost $10. Those interested in participating will meet at KFC/A&W at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Anyone with a car, truck or motorcycle is welcome to cruise. For more information, contact Ruth (435) 650-4552, Brock (435) 637-5280, Dennis (435) 636-7007 or Wade (435) 650-2073.
