The World Off Road Championship Series returned to Peoria, Ariz. for round three of the 2015 season this past weekend. Price native Robbie Mitchell once again geared up at the starting line, looking for his third podium finish of the young WORCS season.

“We hadn’t raced there since 2013, so it was kind of cool to switch it up this year,” Mitchell commented about racing in Peoria. “The last time we raced in Peoria, it rained like crazy throughout the weekend and we raced in the mud. As we watched the forecast through the week, it was looking like we would have the same fate.”

However, on Sunday, Mitchell lined up to race on a dry track. The rider got off to a fast start, coming in second off the line. After dropping some positions after a pit stop and careful riding, Mitchell cranked it up a notch and pushed forward with a podium finish in mind.

“I pushed hard and was gaining on first and second late in the race but hit a rock and lost my rear brakes,” said Mitchell. “I did what I could and finished the race in third. I have never had three podium finishes in one season until now, and we have only had three races. I plan to keep that streak alive but finish first instead.”

Mitchell extended a huge thanks to his parents and his fiance BreAnn for their support throughout his races. Mitchell and BreAnn will be married this Saturday in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
