FCCLA members from Mont Harmon Middle School had the opportunity to create a STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Event project. Those who competed at the region competition and qualified for state recently traveled to Layton on March 20-21 to compete at the Utah FCCLA State Conference.
Nineteen projects went to the state conference from Mont Harmon this year. Of those projects, two projects received gold, 12 received silver and five projects received bronze.
Myah Barr and Samantha Schuagaurd competed in Focus on Children in the Junior Division and received gold. They also received second place and qualified for the National Conference this summer in Atlanta, Ga. on June 28 – July 2.
Alyssa Ellis and Mikell Funner received a silver for their project in Chapter Service Display and received third place.
“I am super proud of everybody,” FCCLA advisor Rebecca Vande Sluis said. “I would consider it a success. Way to go Mont Harmon!”
