Boyd Bradford, Dylan Curtis, Nathan Engar and Ezekiel Galarza (part of the varsity team) show off their most recent Quiz Bowl trophy. The team has competed at two matches this season where they ranked 1st at Moab and 2nd in Price. Hollie Hamaker, advisor commented, “Quiz Bowl allows kids to shine in academics. The students answer questions about sports, history, math, language arts, music, pop culture and more.” There will be 3 upcoming meets to challenge the team’s brains.

Easton Hardy films footage for Pirate News Network’s production about Mont Harmon. The goal of the film is to introduce upcoming 5th grade students to the school, its staff and the class schedule. The 5-6 minute film will feature current Pirates giving advice on how to be a successful student.

We peaked when we needed to and continued to grow as a team throughout the whole year. Kylee Duncan glues together tissue paper to create a hot air balloon for 6th grade science. Students learn about heating and cooling of molecules and weather by completing this project.

Madisen King drives the ball during the championship region game. Lady Pirates placed first in the region tournament and in region play this season. “The girls basketball team had a really successful season this year. The JV team finished 17-3, took first in the regular season, then lost in the championship game and took second in the tournament. The Varsity team went 21-1 this season. We had a lot of girls step up this year and battled through a few injuries and illnesses. If we were healthy, I knew we were the best team in the region,” said coach Jake Atwood. Mont Harmon students are reading a “mountain” of books this year; so far they have read more than 17,000 books. Students, not teachers, are picking the books they read. Brilyn Prettyman and Daniel Varndell sit next to some of their class’ favorite books. “The growth in our student’s reading levels this year is unprecedented,” explained Randy Feik, language arts teacher.

Marie Leonard, head custodian, and Jazmin Hatch celebrate reading growth. Leonard is head of the celebration committee, which keeps busy taking a mobile party and treats to classes that are achieving excellence.
