Monticello Too Much for Pirates

Monticello proved to be too much for the Pirates as the team handed the Green River squad a region loss on Tuesday, 88-52.

The visiting team opened the contest with a game-high 28 points in the first quarter while keeping Green River at 12. The Pirates chipped in another 12 in the second, going in to the break trailing 48-24.

Green River gave its best output in the third, adding 17 points to their score. Monticello added 20 points in both the third and fourth quarters to secure the region win.

Axel Anguiano led the Pirates with 14 points, including two buckets from downtown. Dawson Anderson and Sam Corrigan each chipped in 12. Trey Vetre was the other Pirate in double figures with 10, including two threes.

Green River ( 3-8, 1-1 Region 19) will host Monument Valley on Friday.
