Sara Morley scored a game-high 14 points to help keep the Carbon Lady Dinos’ record unblemished on the young season with a 49-36 win against cross-county rival Emery Friday night in Price.

In three games, Morley is averaging a team-high 12.6 points per game. With Jordan Scoggins in foul trouble most of the game, Kelsey Sorenson and Taylor Passarella picked up the slack, scoring a combined 18 points on the night. Scoggins picked up her fourth foul early in the third quarter, but was able to stay in the game without fouling out. She finished with a season-low five points.

Morley scored eight of her 14 points in a back-and-forth first quarter that saw the Lady Dinos go on a 8-0 run to end the period. Carbon earned its first 10-point lead, 26-15, at the 3:42 mark of the second on a Sorensen layup. The Lady Dinos led at the half 33-21.

Carbon pushed its lead to as many as 22, 49-27, in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Dinos failed to score in the final 5:43 of the game while Emery concluded the game on a 9-0 run.

Freshman Megan Jensen scored a team-high nine points for the Lady Spartans. Jessica Olsen and Lainee Jensen chipped in seven and six points, respectively.

Carbon (3-0, 0-0 Region 12) will travel to the Fruita, Colo. tournament next weekend for three games in three days. Emery (1-2, 0-0 Region 15) will travel to North Summit on Tuesday.
