The Songbook of Elton John and Billy Joel opened up the fun filled weekend at the Carbon County Fair with a concert on Thursday night. The duo of Piano players along with a drummer and guitarist brought the music to the CERCUT Amphitheater at the Fairgrounds.
Beginning the night off with “Bennie and the Jets”, the band played numerous of the iconic musicians’ songs. From Sir Elton John’s collection of “Rocket Man”, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, “Your Song”, “Philadelphia Freedom”, “Sacrifice”, “Daniel” and of course, “Piano Man.”
For the Billy Joel collection, songs such as “Only the Good Die Young”, “Vienna”, “Movin’ Out”, “Big Shot”, “Uptown Girl”, “My Life”, “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” and closing the night with “Piano Man.” The crowd was singing the songs word for word and even dancing with their significant others to the music in the great atmosphere.
Closing out the weekend was country band Due West, consisting of Matt Lopez, Brad Hill and Tim Gates. The band released music from their brand-new album, “Unbroken”, as well as some of their hits such as “I Get That All the Time”, “The Bible and the Belt” and “When the Smoke Clears.” They performed their harmonious vocals in the Grandstands Arena, putting the cherry on top to an amazing weekend.
