Castle Heights students and Price Theatres gathered donations, including books and pajamas, for over 300 children in need in 2015.
With the holiday season rapidly approaching, United Way of Eastern Utah has been busy preparing for its annual Angel Tree program, which is expected to serve nearly 200 children this year.
Children are selected for the program through an application process with United Way. Members of the community are then invited to adopt these angels, agreeing to purchase holiday gifts for those less fortunate.
“This year, Angels can be picked up at EUCCU (Eastern Utah Community Credit Union) and at the Christmas Tree Regalia being put on by the Children’s Justice Center,” said United Way of Eastern Utah Director Cheryl Thayn. “And, of course, here at the office.”
Several organizations adopt multiple angels each year, including Adobe, Soroptimist International of Price, the Clampers and Shop With a Cop.
While organizations are on board to help this holiday season, businesses are also getting in the spirit to help those in need. The Toy Store & More, located on Helper’s Main Street, is offering 30% off all Melissa & Doug Inventory for those shopping for the Angel Tree and Sub for Santa. At The Toy Store & More, customers can find a wide variety of educational toys as well as role playing costumes, activity books and more.
For more information or to adopt an angel, interested parties can visit United Way’s office located at 67 East Main Street in Price or call (435) 637-8911. The United Way office is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
