New Business Finds Home in Old Payless Store

The former Payless building did not sit empty for long. And while there will still be children in the building, they likely won’t be wearing shoes as the play on bounce houses, kick back and watch a movie, or play with the numerous toys scattered throughout Carbon County’s newest daycare.

Wee Playcare is a drop-off childcare service that is now catering to children 2-10 years old. The childcare service is the brain child of Darla Anderson and her husband, who know how busy life can become with children and grandchildren alike.

“You can drop-off your children for up to two hours while you are able to run errands or so you can have some alone time,” the business owner shared.

Potty trained children are welcome at Wee Playcare between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Children are supervised by a trained staff throughout the visit while they play and socialize with others. Staff is certified in first aid and CPR with an AED on site.

Payments are received on a per hour basis, with the rates being $5 per hour for one child, $7 per hour for two children and $9 per hour for three children.

Customers can also rent the Wee Playcare space for parties. A rental for a two-hour party runs $100 with a $25 refundable deposit. These rentals include use of Wee Playcare’s many amenities, such as the popular bounce houses.

Wee Playcare welcomed children and adults alike to the facility on Wednesday as the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony. Those in attendance had the chance to tour Wee Playcare as well as meet the owners and staff.
