On Thursday morning, a new display was unveiled in the upper level of Price’s City Hall. Called a “beautiful piece of art” by Price City Mayor Joe Piccolo, the display features replicas of several historic documents on display in the nation’s capital.

The display features the print of a painting of several founding fathers as well as copies of The Declaration of Independence, the United States’ Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

At the event, Mayor Piccolo shared his thoughts on the display after which local Ben Jones shared his talent and performed a patriotic musical number. A brief history of the display was also offered at the event by one of the creators. To conclude, a ribbon cutting was hosted by the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce.

“We have the right to be born into freedom, that’s what this says.” Mayor Piccolo said in regards to the display. “We have the responsibility to deliver it to the next generation. I think we’ve kind of forgotten that.

“More importantly than just the beautiful piece of art this is,” he continued, “is what it stands for.”
