Castle Valley Special District 2016 projects and fire department updates were discussed Thursday evening with the Castle Dale City Council.
Special District projects include fixing four intersections that are having drainage issues. The water is not going underground properly nor as fast as it should, causing the water to build up and become an issue. Intersections 200 North and 200 East are be expected to be fixed first.
Also, a project of pulling the bucking chutes out at the rodeo grounds is being considered. The chutes are breaking off at ground level and redoing the sub structure is necessary. The Emery High School welding students will be doing all the welding necessary for this project. They will start out by pulling one chute out to see if the project is possible.
Council members and Ignacio Arrien from Castle Dale Fire Department and Maintenance discussed options to update the fire department’s drug policy. Amendment article seven section six was not up to date, and Arrien and the council thought through what new policies should be added, what to keep and decided what was no longer necessary. Coming to an agreement, the fire department drug policy has been updated.
In terms of the cemetery, it was explained that the project is three quarters of the way done and is going quite well. During this project, workers have discovered headstones that have been lost without knowing after becoming covered by grass or sinking in the ground.
